Today we learned of the death of Roy Baker, a treasure to WCFA and the entire Cape May music community.
For decades, Roy was a major figure in the Cape May music scene. For over eight years, his program “Open Mic,” which he created and co-hosted with Liz Shay and Tom Nagley, Jr., has been one of the cornerstones of WCFA. “Open Mic” provided the first broadcast opportunity for many local musicians and performers. He was one of WCFA’s pioneers, and his contributions to WCFA were critical in creating the music and arts culture that the station continues to foster.
Roy’s talent, his voice, his playing, and his love and respect for music and musicians in Cape May will be greatly missed.
